Reminds me of the belgian Dardenne brothers films which I also love. Final dancing scene was emotional for me. No words, just dance.

Loved it and I didn't expected to like this movie so much; raw, intense and unpredictable with a very strong protagonist.

I wanted to see this for a long time, and I always thought I'd like it. Finally saw it yesterday and guess what? I really loved it, spoiler All in all, a pretty raw film that surprisingly enough didn't really make a lot of money. All around good acting, cool urban soundtrack, great cinematography and a good story. I agree with Vinsmid, it is a lot like a Dardenne brothers film, especially Rosetta. It also reminded me of the tv show Skins, not sure if anyone here is familiar with it though? Jack O'Connell (Unbroken) and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max Fury Road) used to be on that show.

Really good movie, I enjoyed it. Someone below described it as feeling "real" and I completely agree.

Expanding on her short "Dog" (but with a horse, and to the point where I thought it was the same lead at first), Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank speaks with the language of anger. Anger at the world for forcing you to desperation, or indeed, to give you hope and pull the rug from under you. Anger at everyone else who's angry around you. An estate in Essex. People screaming at each other. And then throw some pubescent teenage anger on top of that. We follow Mia, a 15-year-old who looks older, who has dreams and is sure to be disappointed. We don't judge her for fancying her mom's (and future self's) new boyfriend, played by Michael Fassbender. Well who would, right? This is before he became a household name, but in retrospect, it heightens the sense that he is an outsider to this world, the one recognizable face, but in the context of the film, a calm center in a chaotic world. He's slumming (literally). Arnold's visual symbolism is sometimes a little over-the-top, but she has a knack for getting the radio or television to play seemingly accidental clips that comment on the action, which I found incredibly impressive.

A sweet story about a sour living. It felt real, and it was funny. Maybe too funny...
