Wow, this must be one of the weakest of the Ghibli canon.
While it does everything "alright", it's just not outstanding in any way. The characters are super bland and underdeveloped, the fantasy world and the villain are super generic. The animation is also ok at best. Really forgettable.

It’s just a shame because the story is done so well throughout the books. The story here is just a mishmash of elements from the 1st, 3rd, and 4th book. Tehanu is never a love interest for Arren, at least not as far as I’ve gone. Would have been stronger just to stick to the story of Ged and Arren, the 3rd book. 3 years 7 months ago
