Rehan
One of the best performances by the superb duo of the legend Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. Dilip Kumar, who was known for his euphonious diction and his command of urban dialect, mastered a rural Awadhi dialect and used it effortlessly. What's more surprising is Vyjayanthimala, being originally from the south and hence much far away from the Awadh region, did a superb job in using that dialect. Dilip Kumar's performance encompasses elements of comedy, romance, tragedy, and villiany blended together so organically and beautifully that one can't find one moment where he could seem going out of character (although it is nearly sacrilegious to say that for the legend Dilip Kumar). An absolute entertainer with an impactful social commentary, all uplifted by a melodious soundtrack by another music mogul of that century, Naushad. 2 years 8 months ago -
