I may be the only person who really liked this movie and found it intriguing but hated almost everything about its predecessor with a fiery passion. (Seriously, fuck that movie.)
I loved the bizarre dream-like imagery, and I loved how Zombie dealt with the aftermath of trauma and how it's not pretty (something rarely addressed in horror movies or sequels).
Also when a certain character dies, I was actually really upset, so it did a great job of getting me attached to them. 11 years 9 months ago -

This was one of the most intense horror movies I have seen. The first 20 minutes or so are pretty insane. I really enjoyed this sequel immensely. 13 years 4 months ago -

I actually don't dislike this movie. Don't get me wrong, it's flawed and VERY messy (in every sense of the word), but there's a lot I like about it. The film's theme of dealing with and overcoming trauma is a good one to explore, and the movie does a good job exploring the multiple avenues one may go with that. The acting is decent, giving reliably solid character actors like Malcom McDowell and Brad Dourif opportunities to shine, and Scout Taylor-Compton holds her own as final girl Laurie trying to move past her ordeal the previous year. Obviously nobody can compare to Jamie Lee Curtis, but still.
Like I said though, the movie is flawed. There's a weird possibly supernatural subplot involving Michael's mother and a white horse (don't ask) that may or may not be responsible for whatever causes Michael to be so evil. It's never really well explored and just raises more questions than it answers and just adds this bizarre weird tone to the flick. Honestly, "weird" is probably the best way to describe the movie. It's a movie so weird, you think the only thing that could make it weirder would be if Weird Al Yankovic showed up... and then Weird Al Yankovic shows up (not joking, he has a cameo in the movie).
Again, this is a very flawed movie that probably misses as often as it hits, but I didn't hate it. Kinda wish the movie didn't adhere to so many predictable horror cliches, but still, it's a slasher film and sometimes you can't argue with what works. 11 months 3 weeks ago
