   Sort of reminds of me of ICMr's sometimes, reaching in, pushing for first place. Some make it, Some fail, while others don't really give.

   There’s basically a direct line from this film to the reality tv competition shows of the 2000s (Survivor, Big Brother, The Mole, etc). The techniques are all here: confessionals to the camera, ordinary people in an extraordinary situation, storylines that build and pay off for each of the key players, and meditations on what a contest like this says about the contestants and humanity.
