Coming hot off an excellent effort on The Last Duel, Ridley Scott delivers in some areas but is let down by a meandering, unfocused script and editing which leaves the film half an hour too long. Some terrific performances from Driver and Pacino, but also some less impressive ones. Jared Leto is downright dreadful, and Salma Hayek's silly turn as a psychic is a fine example of the film's tonal inconsistency.

Almost all characters are Italians during the 60s/70s, but they all speak in English, with a strong Italian accent and sometimes throw in random Italian sentences/words throughout the movie. The script seems to run by the rule that emphasizing randomly the word “Gucci” makes everything sounds cool. The historical reconstruction is odd. Rodolfo Gucci lives in one of the most famous museum mansions in Milan, and every person with a bit of culture knows that place has nothing to do with Gucci’s family. They made a joke out of several characters, especially Paolo Gucci, in a way that obviously offended the heirs. The plot is erratic at best: it is impossible to follow the time jumps. Then, I guess the aesthetic appease those who think about Italy as a nation of men with thin moustaches, drinking red wine and chasing women. I personally think this movie, from an artistic point of view, was not needed. And even as a money-making title, I find it hard to understand how a production of this level can come up so coarse.

Jared, chill bud. Chris Pratt was already cast as Super Mario.

Terrific cast, stylished direction and great set design in this gripping drama. At least 25mmin too long and would have liked more expansion on the "end" resolve of the whole dramatic situation. But overall very good movie with stand out perfomances.

The scene in the beginning between Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons is worth the price of admission alone.

Too long and soo way off the real Gucci family story (which is way more interesting) that this film is basically fictitious.

Acting was very hit or miss, Hayek is laughably bad.

Never thought I’d say this but Adam Driver’s poor Italian accent brings down the whole film.
