The food bank scene truly harrowed me.

Very good film that will anger you, and maybe make your mind a little bit more political/activist oriented.

The latest Palme D'Or winner is engaging and makes its point well, but almost too well. I couldn't shake the feeling that it's purely a "message film" and for me, the message (while I support it fully) would have been more effective if it was fleshed out with...other stuff. Every scene, almost every line, is devoted to delivering its point that the system is flawed and ruining lives. I wonder if this is better suited to documentary? Great performances though, especially from Hayley Squires, and I appreciate the naturalism. 7 years 6 months ago
