Complete mess indeed.
It looks fantastic, makeup and CGI is brilliant. Tarsem Singh's trademark stunning visuals are very much present. Costumes are great, but felt a bit like they tried too hard. In fact, the entire movie feels that way - they simply tried too hard. Many odd cuts and way too much unnecessary slow motion "cool scenes", we were pretty much fed up half way through.

The characters are unsympathetic and receive their names by random chance, suddenly a person is referred to by name and you have no idea who they talk about. I find that this annoys and subtracts even more from the viewing pleasure.

Poseidon; rather, I assume he was Poseidon, don't remember they ever mentioned his name. He wielded a trident and could control the sea. So, Poseidon. He wins the worst-hat/helmet-ever competition with his ridiculous steampunk-Leia buns-monstrosity, closely followed by the hammer/sun "god" (found out from IMDb that it was Helios) and third place goes to Hyperions pincers/thorns/Jason hockey mask hybrid.
What the hell were the headgear designers smoking?

Possible spoiler below.
The movie leaves you with too many questions that you didn't want to ask in the first place.
* Who casted Henry Cavill? So feeble and meaningless, they killed his mother before his eyes and he is supposedly consumed with revenge, but feels more like someone keyed his car?
* Who casted Mickey Rourke? Yet another role as a ultra bad-ass with a wheezing gravelly voice, really?
* Why did the "gods" not fight together against the "immortals"? They seemed fully capable of winning, but on their own they were soon killed off, one by one.
* Lol at the worst inspiring fight-to-the-death speech ever.
Why... aw f*ck it.

You'll not miss out if you skip this one.

Visually ravishing, as you'd expect from Singh, but unfortunately his shift from a highly personal, narrative-driven labour of love shot entirely on location to this CGI-fueled and oddly soulless 300 clone could not be more pronounced. Still though it's worth a watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, due not only to the visuals but also because of some great fight scenes that, refreshingly, don't feature a cut every other millisecond, as well as Rourke's enjoyable turn as the deliciously evil antagonist.

Has some of the worst storylines ever written. The visuals were truly Tarsem Singh, and they were beautiful, but pretty pictures can't save a terrible plot.

Well, this was as braindead as I thought it would be. Tarsem Singh's visual style is likeable, though. And I have to say I was positively surprised by Henry Cavill's performance. I expected the guy to be nothing but muscles and bad acting, but brought enough charisma to his character to make me look forward seeing him as the man of steel - Superman.

Oh my God! I have goosebumps when I think of how utterly useless the movie was. I pray there won't be a sequel to this one. Tarsem, I hope you will come up with something better (not just beautiful visuals) soon..

Managed to get this onto the Worldwide box office list thanks to me pointing out the error to IMDB. :)

Not enough character depth, the plotline was predictable and the mythology was all wrong.

Casting, costume design and cinematography were all done well but the writing is where this movie really fell through for me. I think had the Parlapanides brothers spent more time with writing a more powerful story, it would have been on the caliber of 300 like they kept billing it as.

Also to base a distaste of 3D usage solely on the fact that nothing "came out at you" is ludicrous. 3D technology is better used for depth of field viewing versus screen popping effects, which this movie executed perfectly.

Full of plot holes, terrible acting, very predictable. Every time the movie tries to look cool it becomes ridiculous. And the people who wrote this script never new anything about greek mythology. Total waste of time.

I saw this basically expecting an inferior 300 clone, but was positively surprised. The visuals were richer and more colorful than the blood-spattered greys of 300. The fights were more engaging, since the only times people were fighting like gods is when they actually _were_ gods, and even then they could be killed, rather than the endless slowmo every-spartan-is-Superman-and-every-flick-of-the-wrist-is-an-instant-kill scenes from 300. And Mickey Rourke is way more intimidating and brings more to the screen than that Goa'uld character with all the jewelry.

An outstanding "meh". Action, script, cast (though Mickey Rourke gives some depth to his character), all pretty mediocre. The Clash of the Titans remake already felt like a watered-down 300 but this ups the ante.

Well, they tried a whole new approach on the greek aesthetics (the gods' suits, the armors, the zombie-ish titans, the landscapes) but nothing could mask the crappyness of it all. Bad acting, bad script, bad characters. 3/10.

I did not like this. Major letdown beacuse of the fantastic 300. The only thing that was kind of good with this movie was the visuals, even though the visuals in 300 is better.
