Raiders was good, but this is easily my favorite of the series.

Most third movies made in a trilogy suffer from losing the magic that was created from the beginning of the series. Last Crusade is a different flavor of Indiana Jones, it isn't quite as serious as Raiders and certainly not as dark as Doom. Sean Connery elevates the film to the next level and Indy getting upstaged by his father explored new aspects of the character. Overall the film knows exactly what it wants and needs to be, a good amount of action, a peek into the life of Jones through the inclusion of his father, and the perfect literal ride into the sunset. It almost makes making a fourth movie a travesty really.

The series is refreshed by the addition of Sean Connery to the cast, and the look at Indiana's very first dig is fun and relevant. As usual, great action pieces and a thinking man's climax.

@BeasleyOnFilm you may, it's a preference, and personally i felt this was the more fun & light-hearted one of the bunch. enjoyable all-around. the first one was a classic and this felt a bit distant in comparison, so your opinion is understandable to any fan, really.

What the 4th film should've been; fun, self-referential, father/son double-act & best story. After re-watching the Indy Trilogy it seems Temple of Doom isn't as good as I remember whereas Last Crusade is much better than I remember - and the most enjoyable. 9/10.
