I realised the planet had 130% gravity earth. Astronauts returning need a week to get their strength back so they should have been immobile on that planet :/ 8/10
For the first two hours, one of the great sci-fi movies of the 21st century. Then Nolan's penchant for world-building over story clarity dooms him again.
Visually amazing. I'm sure it was a tour de force on IMAX. I felt like I was the dad on Kenan and Kel, because every 10 minutes I said "Why!?"
So many questionable choices in this script, and each one on its own wouldve been meh but altogether it made me regret spending nearly 3 hours watching it.
Fantastic directing, knockout acting, I couldnt even tell it was Ann Hathaway. Amazing CGI, and the high points of the movie were so good that it didn't matter that they didn't make sense, they were that good.
But when I didn't like it, man oh man, did I not like it. I'm so polarized on it.
I can't recommend you watch it or don't watch it, but I can recommend it's a good background movie, and probably good to trip to if you skip the first half of the movie.
A really good, ambitious film. The third act ruins its chances of being truly great, but that doesn't undermine the rest of the film. McConaughey was incredible, so was Mackenzie, and the visuals are truly gorgeous. An amazing cinematic experience.
Ambitious but flawed. Great special effects and emotional at times but after a slow beginning, a great middle half the movie crashes with a stupid finale. The book closet...really????!!!!???
Ok entertainment but falls short in the end due to the storytelling..
As usual the Honest trailer (only watch after seeing the movie) makes valid points.
A movie full of unexpectations, an overwhelming music which made me shake in various occasions, a touch of science (even if sometimes it is a little bit far-fetched) and a deeply moving plot.
Simply incredible!
Nolan's Interstellar, clocking in at almost three hours, could have been shortened if he'd tamed his propensity for characters exposing his themes, but I was never bored, and do realize this is probably how he sells big budget thinking man's SF to mainstream audiences who can sustain them. The film posits a bleak near future and a space mission to find humanity a new home. It's told on both an epic and a personal scale, at its heart focusing on the relationship between Matthew McConaughey's astronaut and his daughter, a relationship that moves strangely through time due to relativistic effects. I wasn't sure the climax worked in the context of all the hard SF on show, but I think I'm okay with it. Nolan justly juxtaposes Earth and space action so that they mirror one another and keep you invested in both. Oh and awesome monolith robots, just one of the many references to 2001: A Space Odyssey (and 2010 for that matter). Nolan owes a lot to those films here.
This was a great movie. There were some strange parts where scientific theory is a bit sketchy, but Nolan filled in the blanks pretty well. Everything seemed plausible enough, a little bit of cheesyness towards the end but all in all I really enjoyed it. 9/10
I'm not a big fan of this film. Interstellar has often been compared to 2001: a Space Odyssey as they are both science fiction epics with a confusing ending. While I see the similarities between the two, it is the differences that really underscore my distaste for Interstellar. 2001's ending, on one hand, is kept metaphorical. It does not attempt to explain anything and so, it is kept open to the interpretation of the viewer. However, Interstellar's ending is explained as fact and simply makes no sense. This is a subtle but key difference that leads 2001 to being one of my favorite films while I find Interstellar to be completely unremarkable. It's not a bad movie though, the acting is good and it looks beautiful, as long as you don't care about a deep or well thought out plot.

Too much fantasy, not enough scifi. Ending was beyond cringe. I assume they wanted cheesy love story but it turned out to be cheesy and nonsensical.Beingtaki
Interstellar is not a movie. It's a religion, in which some believe and some don't.boulderman
