The ending is good but the whole movie, oh boy, not for me. Is just all this romantic primitivism stuff, i can't deal with it, this is an apology of the noble savage myth, the idea that humans are immorals as a fault of the social institutions and not its own nature.
This could have been amazing but. It is somewhat obvious. I like the way Supertramp does not "stay" - não fica, não tem vontade de ficar. Soundtrack does not amaze me, I wish they would have filmed much more landscapes to fulfill the sight. I was moved by the generation conflict and the very red and old eyes of the old-timer at the end. Expected much more, got boring cinematography and a great story turned into 2h30 runaway-dream. Watched on my own.
I didn't know this was based on a true story going in. I loved the movie, I really, really did. The ending was so unsatisfying though. I was really sitting there like wtf, are they really doing this? But true to the story I guess... Many of the supporting cast were great, Kristen Stewart was NOT, that whole part felt silly, like hey we are hollywood we have to have a weird romantic plot line, with a teenager! Anyway, great movie, regardless of the ending. Live your lives guys!
This is nothing but a masterpiece. This is based on a true story, this actually happened, and Sean Penn was really good at sticking to the story. Emile Hirsch (Chris McCandless) and Hal Holbrook (Ron Franz) really play their roles to the fullest, and I really liked that this movie showed his whole journey instead of only focusing on the Great Alaskan Adventure. Two and a half hour is a bit long for such a slow movie, but if you have time and patience, you should see this movie. The cinematograpy is also really good, and they have done a good job showing the incredible scenery McCandless experienced.
i love this movie so much, great acting and directing. watch it. the only thing wrong with this movie is Emile Hirsch not getting at least a nomination for his performance in it. fuck you, Oscars.
