Love it! What makes it special among the other superhero movies is definately Robert Downey Jr. He makes the main character so incredibly charming, funny and crazy. Just perfect casting!
I liked the story and the effects - a really entertaining movie.
Pure entertainment - up there with the original 'Superman' film. An arrogant james Bond like character gets given a large problem to solve and deal with. Along the way, the audience shares the feeling - drama and comedy exist together. I now watch it regularly just to enjoy the comic timing.
Franchises aren't born, they're made. The progenitor of the "Marvel formula" though in comparison to the rest of the movies it seems downright slow and tedious in comparison. I kind of miss the days when Iron man was just flying around or whatever and it was immediately cool and satisfactory. Now it has to be an all-out world-ending battle to get anybody's attention. A worthy start to a franchise.
Favreau sure knows how to bring the camp. Pulls you out of the action at parts.
Writing and acting are everything you want though, really entertaining.
This is a silly action movie that knows it's a silly action movie. It doesn't overreach itself, and that's a good thing. Other then that, it's just a load of fun to watch.
I was not looking forward to it or expecting anything and I didn't even like the characters, but all in all the film was okay. It was really, really OK.
