Good film, very disturbing though.
I dread to think just how hard it will have been for Monica Belluci to film that infamous scene.

Gaspar Noé certainly learned a thing or two from Andrzej Zulawski here. Batshit insane.

I loved this film. It breaks your heart. Noé's camera work is impeccable, his use of music, the acting... Unforgettable.

Visually stunning. Gaspar Noe's skilled cinematography is definitely a highlight, and adds to the realism of the effect of alcohol and drugs on the characters, as well as other things. Love the way he makes it look like its all only one take. Does anyone notice that perhaps the only time the camera is completely still and motionless is during the infamous rape scene? It's like we're forced to watch it. Also, I love the contrast of the two halves of this film. The first half is gritty and violent, completely merciless and in the second half everyone's having fun and enjoying themselves (except for Monica Belluci at the party, pissed off at her boyfriend). Love the classical music and flashing words at the end. This film really proves it. Time ruins everything.

This film is very fascinating, both in its message and artistic way of expressing it. The reason many people can't bear to watch especially one scene is that it's so real. *Slight SPOILER* In that scene I felt the director had just left the camera there, showing this awful truth. And that makes the viewer resonate with the character in a way that couldn't be done else way.

Definitely not one I would watch with other people, but solid film. Honestly gets a little boring halfway through though. Very anticlimactic.

Offensive offensive film, I can handle a lot and still appreciate it but this was a film that boasts (even on their dvd) that "hundreds of people walked out of the theater at Cannes" rightfully so IMO, provocative style trying to mess with the audience, it worked but should be in the same category as salo, realm of the senses, etc :/ not good

That was intense.. Actually quite a good movie if you can stomach the content (and the spinning footage at the beginning). The last time i was so traumatised by a film was 'Requiem for a dream'.
