it's much better than i thought. i feared it would have those silly horror scenes that many older movies can have, but pretty much the whole movie felt quite realistic. and they werent afraid to show the bloody scenes. i enjoyed the movie!

It's said that animatronic Jaws or "Bruce" as he was named was supposed to be shown much more in the film rather than being mostly a fleeting shadow or fin below the waves. Due to the massive technical issues caused by the salt water, the shark scenes were cut back and focused more on the tension of what you know is about to happen. Thus the trademark suspense of Jaws was born. The shark may be the true star of the show but Scheider, Dreyfuss, and Shaw do their darndest to try and steal it. Brilliant camerawork and storyline. Spielberg is at the top of his game here. To this day I am still terrified of totally open water, there's no telling what lurks under that blue surface.

I feared this movie as a child. As an adult, I love this movie. The directing from Steven Spielberg is top notch. The performances from the three leads were great to watch. The score by John Williams is an all time classic. Jaws is definitely part of my top 10 favorite films.

So much better than I expected! I always thought this movie was overrated up until I saw it. Music, cinematography and acting were all wonderful. Great gob from Spielberg. One of my favorites of his for sure.

Quints speech and that famous reverse zoom shot alone guarantee this a place in film history.

A near perfect movie. Outstanding performances from everyone involved, even the kids.

Funny, frightening, engaging and dramatic.

This might be one of the most ripped off movies in existence, and it's pretty easy to see why.

I still consider Jaws Spielberg's best film, probably because his manipulations are Hitchcockian, not Spielbergian, the latter mode something I've come to spot too easily in later work. Jaws is tense, but also very funny. It's a horror film, but also a tale of triumph against adversity. It has colorful, interesting characters that don't conform to the usual movie types (of the major characters, only the mayor feels like the latter). And it has so damn much HUMANITY. It's chaotic and feels full of impromptu moments that lend the story a lot of realism, which is ultimately needed to sell the giant shark. Foo on the sequels that would downplay the sacrifices and victory of this initial (stand-alone, thanks) film.

Still my favorite film ever! Terrific movie, still holds up after multiple viewing. Blu Ray looks and sounds amazing. Great seeing it again with family who saw it for the first time. :-)
