Finally saw this! It's not terrible like a lot of commenters are making out but I did feel like there was a lack of character development for some of the main characters. Altogether though it was a fun indie flick which had a great soundtrack.
I can't stand hipsters and had to turn off Submarine twenty minutes in. But for whatever reason I'm completely able to forgive all the pretentious, cutesy little affected flaws in Juno, and just completely enjoy it from beginning to end. I think the reason is that it does have some genuine heart, and is pretty damn creative--even if it can be annoyingly so sometimes. I honestly wish a movie in the same vein would come out every 2-3 years. Although ultimately, this one is more superficial than it is profound.
A film I found a little over-written at times, especially in the quick witticisms of the heroine and her best friend. However, it was a lot stronger in the scenes where things were left unspoken. I think it's the kind of movie for which my affection will grow with each subsequent viewing.
I don't quite know how I feel about this movie. It's not a bad movie at all, but I'm not quite sure if I like it. It leaves you with an odd and weird feeling. The music is annoying and the character of Juno is obnoxious. I like that she's strong and independant, but there are certain sides of her that are plain obnoxious.
When it comes down to it ... it's an okay movie. It's cute and I applaud that they are brave enough to adress such a painful and difficult subject. But it certainly did not live up to the hype. It's quite overrated. But still worth a watch, if you're bored.
Overated!! I liked it, but it don't deserve all the credit. Michael Cera is awesome, Ellen Page's character I can't find very trustworthy nor very funny.
