   Sadly, after having seen this film, I cannot defend its positions on any list, except for possibly, "Best Bollywood Films That Tried Too Hard to Be Western." 12 years ago

   The rating can not be trusted here, tbh.
   Just like the romantic dramas of the 90s Indian Cinema, multi-star mega budget and/or Independent films from the 2000s, the rating here reflects a specific yet populated demographic.
   The high ratings of recent Indian films mainly suggest an advent of a comparatively different film (from the usual run-of-the-mill).
   That does not necessarily mean that it deserves a Top 250 spot or, as a matter of fact, a position in any IMDb or other rating driven lists. When evaluated internationally , this is just an ordinary attempt at a mystery/thriller.
   
   

   
   The film's plot is weak, pretended as convoluted, almost till the end where it reaches a dead-end and, hence, a disappointing and almost a laughable climax.
