Was well on track to be (what I thought) the best of the series until Retsudo showed up with his army
Will also admit to being disappointed that Maybe the TV series provided ultimate closure. Or maybe they hoped to make another movie.
Can't say I'm happy or sad to complete this movie series. It's kind of like a sexy date that keeps teasing you all night and just as you're about to seal the deal, suddenly starts using baby talk or something. Ugh! . But like most films in the series - if they kept my interest, they lost it at the climactic battle sequence. Maybe I just take movies too seriously, but really thought the creepy vibe worked so well in this installment, until...8 years ago -

The Lone Wolf and Cub series ends with White Heaven in Hell, but I'm not entirely sure it ends it on a truly satisfying note. Lone Wolf destroys his enemy's bloodline and army, but it's up to you to decide if living with this is worse than dying. In any case, the film has the same intensity and visual flair as other chapters in the franchise, and is hampered by the same structural problems associated with adapting from the original manga. It seems rather episodic rather than a coherent whole. Still, some nice hellish imagery, especially as burrowing "undead-ish" assassins follow the heroes around, killing everyone. The climax set in a snowscape - extremely appropriate to the weather we've been having lately - is completely bananas, like some kind of nightmarish Bond sequence, with ski and sled ninjas dying by the dozens. I think I'll miss these characters now that it's over, though not the rapeyness of all but one installment. 10 years 3 months ago -

Granted it's not the best of them but I'm definitely satisfied with the conclusion of this great series. 13 years 2 months ago
