I don't get it. Masterpiece?
OK I am Swede. I saw it with English narrator without subs.
But I still find it quite slow - the editor could have killed a few more darlings and made the film maybe 1/2 or at least 2/3 long of what it is now.
6/10 on IMDb.

I like the story, but the static execution of it is kinda boring.

Artistically sound and original, the single-frame style suits the disorientation of the characters. However, 48 years and countless viewings of 12 monkeys later, the story, while original, ceases to shock.

I am completely overwhelmed by this. I have no words. It has touched me in a way that no other film ever has. A beautiful, mind-blowing, heart-shattering and heart-filling. masterpiece.

Absurd comment frankqb. The same could be said for When Harry Met Sally and countless rom-coms that followed the same formula afterwards, yet you have it as one of your favourites. La Jetee is deservedly acclaimed as one of the greatest films, let alone shorts, in the history of the medium.

You can make trilogy from this short movie. It is really good and unexpected.

This is a movie from 1962, don't forget it when you are watching.

I was expecting to think that this film is crap.... but it was actually very good and quite touching. Different, experimental, good.

The cinematography is amazing. Brilliant use of images and the plot was really sophisticated, for its time.
