It fails as an origin movie because the "origin" part is only in the last 15 minutes. The rest of the movie has no impact on the main character becoming leatherface. However, except for the part in the asylum, I found the film still somewhat entertaining.

Was a giant disappointment. Movie does a horrible job for trying to make an origins story. "trying" is even being generous.Toastinator
