Surprisingly good for a movie with such a stereotypical biopic structure. Dark, artsy, Classy B+W and filled with plenty of great Bruce monologues delivered by Hoffman.
Bob Fosse is incredibly underrated. His films have some brilliant visual flair. Add in Bruce Surtees' fantastic black and white cinematography, and some solid performances from the cast, and you've got a great film.
I didn't know too much about the legal issues surrounding Lenny Bruce's career, and it's easy to say that some of the humour is a bit childish, but it's still a very compelling story, and one that can easily drum up some good discussion.

no clever story arc or innovative dramaturgy, but still a very solid piece of moviemaking – might well classify for my bookhttps://beyond1001movies.wordpress.com/
