One of my favorite movies of all time. The acting and chemistry of the two young stars was unbelievably believable.

It left me thinking a long whiles afterward about the subject matter-true story, on which it's based.

A devastating masterpiece - there are few films that rival it in power. It doesn't so much go "way over the top" as provide an unflinching look at an unremittingly bleak environment. Moodysson is one of the most compassionate filmmakers working today, and that's what separates this and makes it better than just about any other movie on the subject.

I recently watched this for the fourth time, and it still impresses me. The drama, the realism, the depressing setting, the boy's desire to have a friend in Lilja (à la Let the Right One In) , the soundtrack which combines popular dance tracks with intense instrumentals, the great ending.

Lilja 4-ever!!!

Really good movie. Bleak and depressing. One would love to think that something like this couldn't happen to a person but the hard truth is it can and does. Great acting, and well handled subject matter. Be forewarned this is not a story that is easy to watch nor a uplifting happy one. Reminded me of the movie Kids but better made.

This film was a real downer. Hard to say I enjoyed it because of the subject matter but I am glad that I decided to finally watch it. Powerful stuff.

One of the more depressing movies I've ever seen. Very well done film; on the cusp of greatness, but emotionally bleak from beginning to end.

A very good movie about a real and oncoming dilemma in society today. Even when you know the outcome of this movie the realism of the topic and acting keep you drawn to the calamity. Great script, and not over the top. Spot on.

Wow! I so want to click the thumbs up a bunch of times but also know that I won't be watching this again. Favourites are movies I watch a bunch of times.

It's magnificently executed and makes the story real. Of course we don't want to believe this sort of thing happens in real life - that someone makes a difference, that someone steps up and lends a hand, that someone punches the bully in the face, that someone ... but most of us don't do whatever needs to be done for whatever reason makes sense to us at that moment - it's her fault, she should know better; he wants to live like that; the state, church, that NGO should do something ...

It's sad that this film hasn't received distribution in the States but I'm so thankful for interlibrary loans! I got a legal copy from a local university and have a universal DVD player. That's the only reason I won't be able to watch it again.

Darkness doesn't scare me away ... sometimes it's what reminds us we are alive.

This film could have been utterly devastating, if not for the trite spoiler element. I dropped my IMDb rating a point for that.
