Why do they even bother making movies that mediocre?
Ok we get it, it's "Marvel" but could we maybe make movies out of the hundreds of mutants with more interesting stories before we scrape the very bottom of the barrel for garbage like this?
And if we have to make movies from garbage comics like these, couldn't we at least give them to competent writers and directors?
The most embarrassing thing about this movie is the fact that Sony believed they could get away with putting something like this on the big screen in a time when superhero movies are commonplace. It really brought me back to that pre-Marvel era of superhero movies where a studio very obviously had no idea how exactly to transition a comic to the big screen and struggled with it. It has nothing going for it, an uninteresting plot for an anti-hero that is unknown by the masses. If you're making a comic movie specifically for comic fans, you have to actually put some effort into it because they'll roast you every time. But full props to Matt Smith, his work ethic precedes him and he gives it all. At least we got a popular meme from the film existing, but was it worth being made just for that? I'll let you decide that one.
Treat this movie like The Room. Watch it with a bunch of friends and make a lot of "It's Morbin' time" jokes. Kinda so bad it's good, but there are a few good action scenes.
This film isn't as bad as most reviews suggest. It doesn't even make the list of the 100 worst films I've seen. Still, it is true that not much happens in it. A bit more in the way of a plot would be good. It very much feels like a big set-up for a sequel, but so far that has not happened.
I Morbed so you wouldn't have to. What's wrong with Morbius exactly? Well, the main problem is that's it's incredibly generic. If I told you the premise, you'd reasonably come up with this exact scenario - a superhero origin wrapped in a monster origin (they're the same, don't you know), with a bad guy with the exact same abilities, using them for selfish ends. Not that I'm throwing Matt Smith under the bus. He's the best thing about this flick, and the only actor giving more than one expression. Why do they pay Jared Leto the big bucks anyway? He's a pain to work with and he phones it in. The humor in the script certainly falls flat because of him. He's not funny. Directorially, it's not of much interest either (has the Sonyverse decided that its house look would be freeze frames in the middle of frenetic action? Venom had that too). I knew I was in for something shoddy when the characters referred to the Nobel Prize and the Noble Prize, honestly. There are lots of plot holes, things that work only the way they do because the movie wants them to, and the effects on the powers are nonsense. What's with the smoke trails on everything? Sure, vampires can turn into fog, but not "living vampires" born from a (pseudo-)scientific bat serum. Damn, I just realized we're unlikely to see Man-Bat in a movie because of this pale lemon...
Aware of the low rating.... It's a standard hero/villain story. Nothing special so an average rating... The morphing/changing is of course sci-fi but I studied it was perhaps more subtle.
Characters were find though and effects weren't bad.
Some relative fast cuts, a couple had a better pace.
This movie wasn't terrible but it also wasn't very good. It was just ok. The big issue with this movie is not much happens for the first hour. It isn't boring, I didn't even realize an hour had gone by until I paused it to answer the door. Definitely not the worst marvel movie, just surprising how little happens in the movie. It is also pretty short compared to other Marvel movies which is a plus. Worth watching if it is on TV but otherwise there are lots of better movies to watch. Jared Leto was much better in this movie than as the Joker. There were still a bunch of unanswered questions like why did they need to invent artificial blood? Was regular blood tainted or in short supply? Why couldn't Mobius get real blood from say a blood bank, he is a doctor, that he had to use artificial blood? I wish they would have just spent some time explaining a bit more about the world and why Dr. Mobius came up with the blood instead of spending basically 55 minutes to show him becoming a vampire and trying to figure out what is going on or how to control it. That could have all been done in 10-15 minutes easily. The rest of the world and who Mobius was as a doctor was more interesting. It defiantly gets more exciting and interesting in the second half of the movie. It is tough to decide if I didn't like it or I did lol. Parts I did enjoy and though were good and the start of something cool, and other parts were kind a like ok that took an unnecessarily long time to explain. Doubt there will be a sequel since it was a flop but perhaps he will show up in the Blade or spiderman movie as a villain.

laughable dumpster fire of a film. hopelessly incorrect (bordering on slanderous) information about the habits of vampire bats, too.Coolgum15

One of the worst movie I've watched this year. I didn't even feel need to finish it on one go. Leto is only half bad when not covered in cgi.boulderman
