Watches like a pilot to an MK series. A teaser of a franchise to come. Some nice fights. Some nice fan service. But overall an average movie.

Exactly what it needed to be. Surprisingly funny too.

Subpar.

Some of the fights were alright but the storyline was not.

Really wanted to see a tournament, would have been a much better film.

Really liked the movie. The editing was definitely a bit choppy at time.

Cole being an original "everyman" protagonist is a bit boring, but in my opinion quite justified with how heavy the MK lore can be.

Boy, was Kano going on my nerves. I see how producers want to offer something to audiences which aren't entertained by constant fights without some heavily accented nasty jokes in between, but maybe just cut it by 50%?
Other than that, the Mortal Kombat reboot doesn't completely disappoint, although we would expect more fighting; when we get it, it's brutal enough and the special effects look more expensive than the 55 million budget would make you believe.

Despite not being what you'd call great filmmaking, this new MK still belongs to the better video game adaptations and that should be shocking. The 90s & 00s brought many complete failures to the big screen which were insulting to gamers and film fans alike; during the 2010s, video games have gained such a high grade of acceptance and yet, a proper translation to theaters isn't happening. Why?

Mortal Kombat is A Tournament!!!! But apparently the producers didnt have enough budget to create the Island where the tornament takes place, so they just decided to fight on the training ground! Also they said what if we mixed Aqua Man and Iron Man and make a new character who is son of Scorpion! Who is not even on the Original Roster? I mean like WTF! And he is wearing a suite which charges up???? Absolute Garbage of an idea
