I know a lot of people prefer the book to this, but personally I prefer the movie. The pacing was much more fluid, and the story was a lot more realistic. I wasn't a fan of a lot of things in the book, and thankfully for me most of my complaints were gone in the movie.
One of my main complaints is for the scene
with Nettie's dog was way too violent. In the book he was killed quickly with a corkscrew and just left there, but in the movie he was flayed and left to hang in a doorway. I'm assuming it was for shock value, but it was extremely unnecessary and disturbing., otherwise it was great.
