A wholesome, funny film about a timid orphan trying to escape an abusive relationship and find real love.
Lots of broad, oftentimes vulgar humor that seems daring by today's standards. Eddie Murphy is in top form playing three roles, the main one being the wildly abrasive and bizarre Rasputia, one of the most memorable characters ever put on the silver screen.
Make-Up wizard Rick Baker created what is probably the best fat suit in cinema history and was rightfully nominated for an Academy Award. Yes, an Oscar. Look it up, haters.
Norbit also features a very funny Eddie Griffin, who once verbally abused me in one of his stand up shows at the Rio in Las Vegas. Hey, I asked for it!
I remember seeing a poster for this in 2007 and thinking "This has got to be a new low, NO THANK YOU." Today, I am mature enough to appreciate the film for what it has to offer.
It's 2023 (almost 2024). Culture has changed, sensitivities have shifted. Look, all I know for sure is that I'd rather watch this again than another bland, corporate, watered down Hollywood product made by people who use the terms "problematic", "offensive" and "triggering" a lot. We didn't know what we had, back in 2007. We didn't listen, Eddie! WE DIDN'T LISTEN!
Imagine me watching this movie with my grandma, ans she was laughing and I, hating, so I had to pretend that I was actually loving the movie and fake some laughs.
Murphy must have thought that this was money in the bank, returning back to the well that scored him one of his few hits from the 90's, The Nutty Professor remake. While that film had heart and a sweet lead in Sherman Klump, this one replaces that with a wimpy lead, obnoxiousness, and a constant barrage of below the belt humor. Norbit might have been only about 90 minutes, but it felt like an eternity watching it in the theater.

I don't mind humour being edgy and a bit rude. But some of this was just offensive. To human kind in general.Joris B.
This movie was actually nominated for an Oscar.IreneAdler
Absolutely horrible. This is just not the kind of humor I can enjoy. Dreadful.Dieguito
Strange because the cover already alerts you about the content: "Have you ever made a really big mistake?" YES, watching this crap!!themoviegeekstrikesback

Watching this movie on the plane just before personal seat TVs was like being strapped into some kind of torture device.Pete Concrete
