Classic or not, I'm going to be blunt and honest: it wasn't very good.Just watched it the night after I viewed The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, which I enjoyed more. Nosferatu just didn't captivate me, unfortunately. A big part of this view came from the horrendously bad soundtrack that accompanied the version that I watched (currently the one showing on Youtube).
Didn't sound creepy at all, more comical than it should have. Scenes were ruined by the blast of that weird thumpy music that outright sucked. Aside from the score, it didn't really hold my attention. I do like Werner Herzog's remake though.

I've tried to watch this so many times but I can't, I'm already bored out of my skull at the beginning. One day, one day...

I have recently developed a deep appreciation for old movies. Silent films can be highly entertaining and meaningful (see "Metropolis") but I found this film to honestly be terribly put together and awfully boring.Nosferatu was really creepy looking which is what attracted me to seeing it in the first place.
The filmmakers deserve credit for being pioneers in their field and for contributing to cultural history but not for being exceptional artists...for during or after their era.

Nosferatu is clearly a beloved classic, and I do enjoy it every time I watch it. That said, it is so similar to Dracula by Bram Stoker that it's practically the same story with different names thrown in. That honestly the only thing that has ever disappointed me about the movie. Still one I watch at least once a year!SLionsCricket
Half a terrific movie and another half of a movie that was slow paced and uninteresting to me. The ending left me very disappointed, too abrupt. 3/5Siskoid
Going back to 1922's silent classic, Nosferatu, a Dracula movie in all but name (or names, all changed, but not enough for director F.W. Murnau to be sued by Stoker's widow, which led to the film almost being lost when a judge ordered all copies destroyed - an American print survived) and one that's even SLOWER than the 1931 Universal classic. By the time the vampire gets to the equivalent of London, we're in the third act. It is still interesting to see the very old school effects - I particularly love the play of shadows that no doubt inspired Coppola's 1992 Dracula film - but truth be told, everything people remember about this film is in the last 15 minutes. That's where it's fascinating. Otherwise, it's just playing for time and the modern literate audience is probably just drawing up differences between it and the source material.Paper_Okami
My second favorite horror film after The Shining.BreizhDre

A true vampire movie, not like we have today. Only comment: people were slow readers back thendirte_lawndre
Good film and Nosferatu just looks so damm creepy. The story is well paced and I liked the chemistry between Hutter and Ellen. Ps - Ellen is pretty gorgeous so the film gets extra points from me :-)kayadams
