So disappointing. A great cast, cool concept, and slick style are completely wasted on an irredeemably terrible script. The plot is incomprehensible, increasingly stupid, and misdirected, with some scenes that literally make no sense whatsoever and exist for no apparent reason. The film seems to change its mind about what it wants to be at least three times, and the result is that it ends up being nothing at all. Similarly it can't seem to decide whether it wants to ground all its magic tricks in reality (thanks, Morgan Freeman) or go off the batshit insane end of the realism scale with half-arsed egyptian mysticism and man-eating bubbles, and the resulting combination comes off as forced and decidedly unmagical.
We barely get to see the 'main characters', which just makes it laughable towards the end of the movie when they reminisce about what an epic journey they've been on. In fact the movie probably peaks with the pre-credits scene, or, at a stretch, the first magic show, because after that when it actually tries some exposition it's all downhill at breakneck speed. Ultimately it sacrifices too much looking for that illusive killer twist, but when it finally comes it's predictable and completely unsatisfying. I guess a film can't be The Prestige, The Usual Suspects, and Ocean's Eleven all at once.
yeah let's just make our poorly introduced characters spurt out one liners instead of... you know... actually developing. i'm not even exaggerating when i say that there is no development in characters, making it all the more hilarious is when we start hitting the finale and the crew act as though it's been an incredible ride and they've enjoyed knowing eachother. wait, what? who the fuck are these people? what are they doing? why are they robbing banks? what is this ancient egyptian order about? what the fuck is going on?! now on top of that, add all the plotholes, unexplained pointless nonsense and a twist that is obviously pulled out of its ass at last minute, and you have 'now you see me'.

This was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. I constantly had the feeling that this movie was underestimating my ability to think rationally. It was filled with stupid moments and was based on a plot twist so artificial and forced, that at the end, I felt embarrassed for whoever wrote this. This film is a cringe fest.
I wanted to like this. A nice cast. Unfortunately I personally found the plot incredibly stupid in by itself and I'm quite suprised at the fact that this has a pretty good imdb score. I mean, the cinematography was decent and all I guess but the plot itself I hated. Oh well.
Then the bad things.
Is this movie supposed to be real? Why use CGI in magic tricks? That bubble with the girl is so impossible.
Plot holes? What's that? This movie has so many. The scene in the bridge is one of the most stupid things I've ever seen. And the way they explain it? That was so fast, that I almost believed in it.
I like action. When you have a great action(and I'm not kidding, this is one of the most entertaining movies I've seen), but you have no story at all, i can't like.
This will have a sequel. Let's see how it turns out...

Have to agree with Jamie here, unlikeable characters, hopeless plot and a simply terrible script, this movie huffed and puffed but wasn't a fraction as smart as it thought it was and came up well short.
The most damning indictment i've read here comes from the positive comments - that if you like those dreadful Ocean's movies you might appreciate it. If on the other hand you don't like movies to be idiotically stylized
to the detriment of the plot, then you should avoid this nonsense.
The whole thing felt like it was conceived and written by an idiotic who assumed his audience was even more stupid.
