Weak, sequel-bait ending aside, this is a very solid story throughout, well structured and with each episode raising the stakes and offering resolution. So many streaming shows string the audience along, hinting that if you just keep watching there will eventually be some payoff. With Squid Game you get payoff in every episode. That alone makes it leagues better than most other shows out there.
I watched it when it just came out and I binged it in a night or 2 so I can definitely recommend! I think it lives up to the hype, but I don't think it's a show for children/teens (even though they are creating the hype). I would say it's similar to Alice in Borderland.
However, it can be a bit bloody/gory. I listed the gory parts down below without spoiling too much:
shots in head/body, lots of blood throughout the series, a cut out eyeball, organs in body that's been cut open and brains on the floor
If you're sensitive to animal gore: a dead fish is being chopped for a split second.
