Extremely enjoyable musical scenes and some great humour from Rebel Wilson, but was I the only one who spotted the glaringly predictable and borderline offensive stereotypes? Quirky fish eating Asian...Butch black lesbian...Girl whose status as 'quirky' seems to stem entirely from the fact she has a few extra piercings...Yawn. Just a small pinch of originality and characters I haven't seen before is all I'm asking here.
Pitch Perfect creates a ridiculous collegiate a cappella singing group subculture, and kind of sets you up for a spoof on "underdogs go to the championships" stories - especially with the two absurd announcers who seem to be in another movie - but like the films it wants to mock, it quickly becomes an excuse for stringing musical numbers together, and even runs head first into the clichés it pointedly attacked minutes before. And in a way, that's fine. The humor falls a bit flat (projectile vomiting jokes? really?), but Anna Kendrick is watchable enough to carry the picture. It's just unfortunate that the group leader won't listen to her ideas and that the movie makes us wait and wait and wait for a musical number that actually works, at least from the heroines. I suppose that's the pitfall of an underdog story, but this isn't a baseball movie. When musical numbers are a big part of the entertainment, withholding becomes a problem.
I don't really get why this is received this good? Ok, the music scenes are awesome and Anna Kendrick puts up a decent performance, but the plot is very predictable and the scenario is just poorly written imo. Rebel Wilson's humour i didn't like at all.. The same goes for the comentators. Why are they even in this movie?
The singing and dancing is good and there are some funny lines, but the main plot is completely predictable and there are a mess of sub plots that never really coalesce.
Paticularly irritating is the forced romantic interest between Becca and that smirking, needy prick.

The hype kinda killed it for me but I still enjoyed it quite a lot. Not as good as I thought it would be, but entertaining and fun.Hippiemans
Is it predictable? Yes! Is it a bit cheesy? Yes! Is it fun? Hell yes! Sometimes you just got to enjoy ride and not look after the bigger meaning.JensWillems

It's been a while since I saw a movie this predictable. But you know what else it was? Fun.filmyjo

Bring it On remade into a 110 minute Glee episode. While predictable and clichéed, I knew what I was getting into.Highlight: No Diggity.

A pleasant surprise. Great performances, good music and very funny in places.Nonpapergangsta
Its very funny and entertaining. With an excellent soundtrack that is what matters the most in musicals.nowhereman136
As much a spoof of the culture as it is a tribute. And watch for the announcers blunt and hilarious commentary during the performance scenesShowing items 1 – 15 of 27
