   Simon's mid-life crisis shines through in the first act and I thought Stapleton and Matthau had the best chemistry of the three pairs in the movie. There was pathos, humor and downright nastiness and the entire movie could have revolved around the pair of them. The second act for me had no likeable characters and was thus fairly unmemorable...I didn't care about either one of them so why would I care about their issues?

   The final act was enjoyable but didn't seem to have the impact of the first...and I don't know what daughter would have allowed her father to hang seven stories off the side of the building without letting him in, but then a kind word back in the suite makes her open the door!

   
   
   Overall, an interesting movie but even the bows at the end of the movie seem to indicate that Simon thought this was a better story as a play than as a film. 9 years 3 months ago
