If you want to know what happened in Bosnia in 1995, then this film is for you.

If you want to know why it happened, this film leaves you totally in the dark.

Great film. Shown through the eyes of a person connected to both the Bosnian people and the Dutch UN personnel it brings you close. Close to a horrible event. The film really achieves to show the despair in the Bosnians, the cruelty in the Serbians and the powerlessness in the Dutch.

This genocide becomes even more painful in the light of the new information found around 2015, 20 years after the genocide. Apparently the British and French made a deal with Mladic. In return for 340 hostages from these countries, they would not prevent Mladic from reaching Srebrenica. This explains the lack of UN and military, especially air support for Dutchbat.
This shows that the 8000! Deaths might have been prevented if UN would have actually helped the Dutch soldiers. And also proves that for decades the Dutch soldiers have been wrongly accused and even prosectuted. And that they have always spoken the truth when they said they did all they could…

Horrible, like war always is.

Actually yes, I do want to know. With that I don't mean the motives of the perpetrators, but why others let genocide happen. What were the motives and interests behind the UN decisions to NOT intervene at that point? Why did the Dutch troops act as they did? This is all just mentioned in passing, but not explained in the film, which is a pity.

Lidingö FilmStudio in Nov 2021. Strong, horrible and intense truth-based history of the worst massacre during the war in the Balkans in the 1990s in Srebrenica. Good length.

Answers the question what. But not why.

Why? Do you need a film to tell you why genocide happened? What's wrong with you thyron/Emiam?

Very powerful.

There's a special place in Hell for the Serbians, Dutch and UN people involved in this.
