Was this actually acceptable in the 80's or is it all heightened for "comedy"? This was a really uncomfortable watch. The overall message of "nerds are people too, respect people who are different from you" is utterly trashed by the constant racism, sexism and homophobia. One of the protagonists rapes someone, but its okay, he's lovable, so it's a lovable rape? He's good at sex, so its fine! What a goof!

Fun cameo from Jamie Cromwell though.

Another 80s underdog story, this time with the focus placed on a personality type. Fast pacing, likeable performances from the nerds and amusingly villainous behaviour from their antagonists, the alpha betas, keeps the movie interesting throughout. The humour is often raunchy in an innocent way and sometimes really funny, though the movie had me mostly smiling rather than laughing out loud.

Easy watch, no laugh out loud moments but a few smiles. Best bit is their song at the end!

A great 80s comedy at its core, good gags and characters. Fast paced and filled with iconic songs from the time. Works well as an easy and entertaining movie. Watching it from a modern perspective, there's some things which are sort of weird though. Racism, glorified rape and a very stereotyped of a gay character are rampant here and nowadays I imagine there would be a lot of outcry about it. Not in the 80s though.
