These 30's movies written by Mae West always have some catchy punchlines, but I don't think they are very good movies.

I see the historic value--early Mae West, breakthrough Cary Grant, racy enough to invite censorship--but neither was very funny, and the plot was just a big pile of random.

although the plot is a huge mess, west has a certain charm and her zingers are fairly priceless. the next time someone tells me that "they've heard a lot about me," i'll make sure to tell them "sure, but you can't prove none of it!"

Some hard words here in the comments, I can only add West wouldn't do bad in a funny walk contest. Whatever this movie does in seven lists is beyond me.

Admittedly, this was my first Mae West movie -- in terms of today's perspective, she does nothing for me. I understand that she did a lot to change the way women were portrayed in films, but the way she walks and talks quickly got rather tiring for me.

One of those movies that piled up awards, and makes you wonder why.
Mae West is her usual self and Grant is charming but the plot is just mediocre, by 1933 standards too and it's neither funny nor moving or even entertaining.
Coming to this one after seeing the West-Grant duo in I'm No Angel probably didn't help as the other movie is far superior in every way.

What's with all the negative comments? This was short and spicy-- I don't know what people were expecting. Mae West is funny, sexy, cool as fuck. The screwball plot never stops moving. Boring? Not at all. Good li'l film.

Wow. This was nominated for Best Picture?? 1933 must’ve suuuuuuucked. Worth it for film history buffs to see a Mae West picture and a young Cary Grant, but the acting and plot is really really bad. The BEST thing about this movie is that it’s only 65 minutes long.

"She Done Him Wrong" is boring and trivial. Lousy plot, and not at all funny when it tries to be. And how the hell did Mae West manage to be so fuckin annoying? Can't stand her. Furthermore she's not at all the big, hot mesmerizing beauty she's supposed to be in the movie. But she wrote it herself of course, so what can you expect.

I have to disagree. There were some really brilliant punchlines, especially by the pianist.

?"Ever since i sang that song it's been haunting me"
"It should be, you moiderd it"

I found it very boring... Furthermore, Mae West did not convince me as the beauty she was supposed to be. I find her way of walking and talking quite manly. In the movies that were made just a few years later (such as It Happened One Night), this is not the case, so I blame it on her personally....

I wonder how awful she'd look without the girdle she had to have been wearing.
