Pure poetry. A true masterpiece of cinematography. It's beautiful how you can see mixed in a same scene originality at it's rawest form and the most devoted aspects of noir and decó that transports you to the underworld of a corrupt city where walk by con men, prostitutes, dirty cops, hitmen, vigilantes...

With a sharp cast as few times seen, Sin City was divided in three segments, The Hard Goobye, The Big Fat Kill and The Yellow Bastard, each one a volume of the "comic". I quote the comic because, actually, there are few humoristic parts. These are very well build by Benicio del Toro and his Jackie-boy in the second part, The Big Fat Kill.

Sin City's only flaw is this exact second part. It's lack of control and the length of this segment dragged the film down. If direction trio decided to shorten it and extend the third part (The Yellow Bastard), perhaps we would had perfection.

Getting back in the cast subject, Mikey Rourke is fantastic. That first segment (The Hard Goodbye) is by far the best by two key elements: the first one is this fantastic world in which we are being introduced. And the fantastic dialogs Mikey's character has to itself. His self knowledge, the political implication of his acts, everything was meticulously built.

Rodriguez, Tarantino and Frank Miller did an excelent job adapting Sin City to the theaters. In fact, it is actually a Sin calling this an adaptation. This is the comics. This is the story.

Pretty spot on with the comics, at least the ones I've read. Beautiful style.

One of the most fun and awesome films I've seen. It is to die for on Blu-ray too.

The first segment is my favourite, Yellow Bastard is fucking gross and I love him.

Rourke does a steller job as Marv, his fight scenes are visceral and extremely satisfying. The show stopper is his ordeal with Kevin.

Last segment is a little hit and miss, but overall it ends on a high note. Lots of T&A on show here (as with the other segments), that's a good thing people.

Amazing stuff.

A true example of style over substance. It's one of the greatest visual depictions of the comic book ever, but sadly at no point did I relate to the characters or want to. There was no real moral center as even the heroes ended up being unpleasant. So there's no one to root for. It's incredibly stylish, but that's about it.

I just went back to see which films were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars of 2005...here's your list:

1) Brokeback Mountain
2) Crash
3) Munich
4) Good Night And Good Luck
5) Capote

...Saw 'Crash' which crashed right out of my video collection (in other words, I did not like)...'Capote' I saw sorta went blaah...liked Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance though...'Good Night And Good Luck' should have been called 'Good Yawn And Good Chuck'...Munich and Brokeback Mountain are still on my watch lists but the point I make here is this:

What is Hollywood thinking of when they put movies up for best picture like this while excluding Sin City which is probably better than all of them!!

...time will tell on this one...believe me...just like it did on Citizen Kane

Okay, I don't want to insult anyone, but I really hated this movie. If I had to name the worst one I've ever seen it would probably be this. It's personal taste, of course. I just did not really like any of the characters (good or evil), I was not curious how the film was going to end, I found a lot of characters really just sick instead of original or anything.

The only thing I really have to say in favor of this movie is that it has a very unique and interesting visual style. Apart from that I could not really relate to it on any level.

Too much disgusting gore, otherwise a good movie. Wouldn't watch it again, it is kind of sickening.
