I appreciate the decent effort given by my fellow director Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Miller, however, being thoroughly disappointed from their previous amateurish work, I didn't have high expectations for this picture.
My ideals command me to tell the truth, however harsh it may be (even for my old friend Quentin, who apparently, directed some scenes for this "film"): I'd rather stick a bronze dagger in my vermilion and truculent flesh, than watch this piece of trash again.
I just went back to see which films were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars of 2005...here's your list:
1) Brokeback Mountain
2) Crash
3) Munich
4) Good Night And Good Luck
5) Capote
...Saw 'Crash' which crashed right out of my video collection (in other words, I did not like)...'Capote' I saw sorta went blaah...liked Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance though...'Good Night And Good Luck' should have been called 'Good Yawn And Good Chuck'...Munich and Brokeback Mountain are still on my watch lists but the point I make here is this:
What is Hollywood thinking of when they put movies up for best picture like this while excluding Sin City which is probably better than all of them!!
...time will tell on this one...believe me...just like it did on Citizen Kane
Okay, I don't want to insult anyone, but I really hated this movie. If I had to name the worst one I've ever seen it would probably be this. It's personal taste, of course. I just did not really like any of the characters (good or evil), I was not curious how the film was going to end, I found a lot of characters really just sick instead of original or anything.
The only thing I really have to say in favor of this movie is that it has a very unique and interesting visual style. Apart from that I could not really relate to it on any level.
One of the most fun and awesome films I've seen. It is to die for on Blu-ray too.
The first segment is my favourite, Yellow Bastard is fucking gross and I love him.
Rourke does a steller job as Marv, his fight scenes are visceral and extremely satisfying. The show stopper is his ordeal with Kevin.
Last segment is a little hit and miss, but overall it ends on a high note. Lots of T&A on show here (as with the other segments), that's a good thing people.
A true example of style over substance. It's one of the greatest visual depictions of the comic book ever, but sadly at no point did I relate to the characters or want to. There was no real moral center as even the heroes ended up being unpleasant. So there's no one to root for. It's incredibly stylish, but that's about it.
I think the way they filmed the movie was really cool. It made it feel like a graphic novel. The acting was pretty good in it. I like how it started with one story and moved into different stories, which were tied all together at the end.
