I love me a space mission procedural, and Stowaway stars people I want to watch on any given day like Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim and Anna Kendrick on a mission to mars that goes lopsided when a man (Shamier Anderson) is found to have accidentally been aboard during take-off. They can't turn back, but now face never arriving due to lack of oxygen. It's a technical procedural, with strong-seeming science, but also an ethical procedural, jettisoning the usual paranoid thriller treatment this story would normally and instead honestly asking what spaceflight professionals would do in such a situation. It's like Apollo 13, but we don't see the ground crew. In fact, once we've left Earth's atmosphere, the outside chatter disappears and conversations with mission control are strictly one-sided. The isolation is total, and in such situations, what is your responsibility towards your fellow man? Isolation, kindness, sacrifice, using science to solve problems... definitely a film for our times. 2 years 11 months ago -

Starts off ok and the concept is fine but the 2nd half just didn't really make any sense.
There's just no way this would play out like this in real life.
And of course you have to massively pretend like the scientific part of the movie is realistic, when the reality is is that it's laughable wrong. 2 years 11 months ago
