There's a lot wrong with it, but the real reason it wasn't good was that they didn't take any advantage of their unique selling point - the main guys are bad guys. As it is, you can swap out any of the Suicide Squad with generic hero number five and get the same result: hero with superpower fights hordes of faceless alien robot things and saves the day.

Heroes are limited by their own personal morality, and bad guys aren't. That means bad guys can do things that heroes can't. We needed to see that movie.

Imagine if instead of faceless alien henchmen, we had the Suicide Squad fighting real people. Terrorists, a private army, a collection of nasty people who do nasty things, whatever. And instead of going through the motions of killing or subduing them like any other hero would, lets take advantage of the fact that our guys are sadistic bastards.

What if Killer Croc bites a guys head off. Blood sprays everywhere, gets in drunk Captain Boomerang's eyes and he starts flailing around blindly, killing some goons and accidentally chopping off Rick Flag's hand. Rick Flag tries to blow him up with his phone death app, but pushes the wrong button and Slipknot explodes instead. Meanwhile, pinned down without his guns, Deadshot grabs the severed head of the guy Croc ate and beats three bad guys to death with it. Then Harley Quinn picks up the pulverized head, gives it a name and carries it around asking it trivial pursuit questions.

Opportunity wasted.

The screenwriter probably should never work again and spare us all another terribly written movie.

Found myself getting annoyed that they didn't explore the abusive relationship between the Joker and Harley. Both the animated series (where Harley Quinn was invented) and the later comics portrayed the relationship as almost entirely one-sided, with Harley's devotion to "Mr. J" being tolerated by the Joker only so long as it benefited him. Instead we get a neon-splashed Bonnie and Clyde, causing some young women to get the wrong impression about what these two characters are all about. Maybe that's an aspect to be explored in future DC movies, allowing for further development for Harley's character in other films. I don't know.

A fun, but choppy movie. Song placement often felt more like a youtube fan video than a studio made film, leading to the feeling that a lot of last minute editing went down. Director seemed to struggle with such a large ensemble cast, and a majority characters were left underdeveloped as a result.

See it for Harley Quinn, but don't expect to remember any details of the plot after it's over.

It's actually fascinating how terrible this is. I mean it borders on a fan-made YouTube video level in terms of dialogue and editing. I'd love to see an honest making of documentary, particularly relating to the decisions made in post, even though it will never happen.

A waste. Plot felt like a handful of shortcuts: No development; characters that seemed to take most effort hardly appear; plot, choppy and untimely. Tried to shove way too much into one film, felt like such a waste.
There were cool moments, and cooler characters, and I loved those, but can’t love the film.

The great cast helps the movie more than the underdeveloped and times generic plot. At least it's an easier watch than Batman v Superman, instead of being dour and drab like that one, it is colorful, funny and fast-paced.

(and while the music choices are often great, I could have gone on without "Seven Nation Army")

It's almost amazing how bad this was. It's been three days since I saw it and I still can't believe it.

Couldve been better if any of it made sense, a lot of blame falls with the studio for cutting several key scenes. Plus Jareds Joker had no impact whatsoever

Sweet Hesukristo this movie sucks ass.

Who done put a curse on DC movies so that they all end up sub-par? Total hogwash, drivel and claptrap.
