Incredibly entertaining documentary about the “Black Woodstock” that took place in Harlem, during the same summer as Woodstock, that didn’t get any press at the time and then forgotten. The surrounding footage of the social issues in the ‘60s is very fitting and seamlessly fits well with those talking about their experience at the festival. Be sure to watch the post-credits scene of an unrehearsed moment with Stevie Wonder! 3 months ago

Maybe a bit less talking heads during the musical performances? Jesus. I'd much rather hear Ray Barretto than Lin Manuel Miranda (and his dad) talking about Ray Barretto. 3 months 3 weeks ago

Fascinating, moving and important. Summer of Soul’s Harlem Cultural Festival carries the political importance that Woodstock could only aspire to.

Part history, part celebration, and all awesome.
