Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut, Synecdoche New York... So that's what undiluted Kaufman is like, huh? It is a tour de force. I was completely bowled over by it. After I was done, I walked around the apartment stunned, and I wasn't sure I wanted to watch the DVD extras in case it answered questions I wanted to think of them for myself. My one word review is: Profound. This isn't an easy film to watch - it involves a lot of work - but I heartily recommend it.

Notable film.

I saw this film for the first time nearly 5 days ago and since then it's been on my mind throughout, it's such a intricate yet delicate piece, I'm such a sucker for deep ending monologues and fascinating characters. Hoffman really did amazing in this

I understand that this movie wanted to avoid happy moments at all costs, but geez, that was unrelenting.

Jaw-droppingly incredible. A standard most films, especially screenplays, will never achieve.

I find this film very depressing now, considering the life of Hoffman and his death.

One of the greatest films ever made, if not the greatest.

Felt a little bit like Fellini's 8 1/2. Almost like its dark other half. 8 1/2 felt so uplifting. Even though he was struggling to create his masterpiece, he kept finding joys in his memories and fantasies. Where as Caden seems to keep fantasizing about the horrors and sad times. Really enjoyed both, but felt very differently after watching both.

I used to love this film around the 2nd viewing, but lost the taste for it around the 8th or 9th. It's good, the effect of it becomes routine, building up to nothing.

I don't understand a huge amount of it, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. Definitely starting to develop a taste for this kind of thing. Extraordinarily moving, I know it's going to stay with me for a while.

Very, very heavy film. A lot has gone on from start to finish and it's great.
