this film is so so good. Glauber Rocha does an allegory of the brazilian dictatorship and the internal contradictions of the bourgeois. In my opinion he is the best brazilian director. I love the way he structure his histories, with a lot of digressions and jumps of times, with an incredible cinematography and editing

Dois movimentos convivem em Terra em transe: a progressão linear e a circularidade das repetições. A progressão compõe a alegoria horizontal que condensa a sucessão dos fatos e faz de Eldorado a representação da cena brasileira, hierarquizando agentes, espaços, ações para figurar um acontecimento: o golpe de 1964. Em Terra em transe, é a pedagogia mais direta, na qual a regra do jogo é a esquematização deliberada da esfera política, exibição das forças essenciais. Aqui, os agentes viram personificações, os lances menores, nuances, e contradições internas a certos grupos, dados esquecidos. Cada figura condensa atributos variados, encarnando numa unidade singular um conjunto de segmentos da sociedade, uma convergência de posição política e inclinação psicológica.

Quite Brechtian. What I found really smart is how they show the way politicians passionately, fanatically believe their own lies even (perhaps specially) when they know they're full of shit. This was good.
