Elaborate costumes, big stars, and a sometimes very thought-provoking dialog. Ava Gardner, who is the personification of Luxury, introduces the children to the luxury of eating when you are not hungry, drinking when you are not thirsty, laughing when you have nothing to be happy about, and the luxury of a woman's companionship, but only when you are older (wink, wink) Otherwise, the movie is rather obscure and difficult to follow. Elizabeth Taylor in her many "good" roles kept the story woven together but just barely.
