   A very dated movie. What is important to remember is why this movie was so highly lauded. It was because sound was new and everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. In hindsight many of the early sound films weren't very good because they threw away plot in favor of music. It's kind of how 3-D movies often are. They throw all their effects at the wall in 3-D but forget to worry about their plot. 11 years 5 months ago
