Massively underrated film, among the best of the genre.
Mills and Portman produce fine performances as the best of a generation who carried out their duties with effortless wit and charm.
Though the Germans are stereotypically portrayed largely as fat balding buffoons, the level of cruelty shown by them is probably a more sanitised version of what really happened.
