   Fun enough, but lacking in depth. Compared to the original, there's next to no character development - by the end of the movie, I still couldn't recall three of the main characters' names, which is really saying something.
   
   Additionally, the film itself is quite transparent in its incorporation of contemporary culture and "wokeness", but does so in a way that comes across as somewhat out of place; there is a scene where Tabby (the film's Black protagonist) brings up issues of racial injustice, and then the narrative completely switches topics and the matter is never brought up again. (Odd.)
   There's very little emphasis on the actual witchcraft involved, which is disappointing.
   
   Overall, I'd say this movie bites off more than it can chew. Perhaps it would be better received by a younger audience; as it is, I found myself longing for the grit and unhinged darkness of the original. 3 years 5 months ago

   Tidorith

   Not really a worthy successor to the original. Tries to do way too many things at once - along a common theme, sure, but if you were making a serious effort to make a good movie along these lines you could probably take more than half of the key events or points out of the movie and elaborate more on what you left in.
   
   Also overly on the nose with the themes present.
   
   Some really good and interesting moments within the movie, but those pieces alone don't comprise enough of the movie, nor add up to a good one on their own. 3 years 5 months ago

   It's not that I didn't enjoy it, but it's quite weak in comparison to the original. It had many interesting themes, but unfortunately, they weren't explored as they should. If they were, it could have been much more exciting. The reason why this didn't happen is probably because they tried to compress too many ideas in such a short time.
   One of the things that I loved the most about the original is how they weren't scared of the public not feeling sympathetic towards the protagonists.

   They weren't perfect and sometimes acted in cruel ways, especially after feeling powerful.

   On this one, the mistakes the characters do are shown as being innocently done.

   They end up never having to deal with the consequences of their actions because what goes wrong turns out to be not their fault.

   
   Might watch it again, with the younger generation in the family. Still, I wish the movie was darker and focused a bit longer on the craft. The only thing that frustrates me is that if they took a bit longer to develop the David Duchovny character
