If it weren't for Ledger, the film would be a total disappointment. I still think that Batman Begins is better.

Well directed and acted. But the writing was kind of silly, especially when compared to Batman Begins.

One of the greatest films of this generation. The themes and how the dialogue presents them are so incredibly deep its ridiculous. The interrogation scene itself is worth watching on repeat

I hate to see this movie getting so much negative (and oftenly conceited) response from a lot of people just because it's a blockbuster. Seriously, I think this is one of the greatest movie of recent years.

It offers an incredibly elegant cinematography (I LOVE the look of Christopher Nolan's movies), perfect editing (where so many things happen parallel), a really epic feeling to the story, flawless cast with an antagonist who already has become iconographic in recent film memory, relatively complex characters, morally ambiguous issues, some wittily pointed dialogue .. my God, it's as good as "big" cinema can get.

I was giving it a STRONG 9 when I saw it in cinema for the big hype back then, and seeing it yesterday for the second time on TV, it has lost nothing of its greatness.

To round it off, the following is one of my favorite scenes in cinema ever. There is something so austere and unsettling, yet euphoric about it, my eyes get wet each time I'm seeing it.

I'm not sure why this movie is on so many Top Lists and I now know why I did not see it when it came out. Of course I get the appeal for a lot of moviegoers. I'm just not one of them. I do, however, appreciate the special effects and the fact that this was Health Ledger's next to last film. Beyond that - not much.

The problem with The Dark Knight is that the main demographics decided that it was going to be one of the greatest films of all time...well before it was even released. It was a self-fulfilling prophecy based off of a number of factors.

The truth is though that this doesn't belong on any list, except for worldwide box office. Christopher Nolan screened Heat for the entire cast and crew before production. He wanted TDK to be one of the greatest crime dramas of all time, that just happened to be about Batman. Very few people are able to objectively judge this movie for what it really is though. It's a glossy, over-hyped superhero film. It doesn't even touch Heat.
