What did you just watch? A brilliant comedy satire, or a demeaning mess of assembled racist slurs and blatant bigotry?
It swings wildly from one opposite to the next, sometimes even within the same scene.

Not entirely sure what to make of it, but it definitely wears SBC's unmistakable provocateur flavor of humor mixed with outrageously insulting racism and stereotypes. I laughed at some bits and frowned at others. Some gags were outstanding while some were really just bad.
I won't be recommending this to people, but I will not slag it off either.

All in all, it's an average outing that requires somewhat thick skin to enjoy, but really pales in comparison to Borat.

Unbelievably funny. There was not 2 minutes where I didn't laugh! A lot of private jokes too (he speaks in hebrew when he is supposed to speak walarien). The scene in the airplane is cult!!

There's a good film in there somewhere. It's just that Sacha Baron Cohen couldn't be arsed to make it. Flashes of brilliance, but it's mostly just a little bit rubbish.

You get what you would expect from a Sacha Baron Cohen film: jokes about racism, sex, and so on... But most of them are really funny :)

And his speech at the UN really, really nailed it — great way to get the USA to reflect their political choices.

[3/10] Sometimes hilarious and mostly stale, The Dictator fails at mocking social parodies and utilizing the comical talents at hand. [3/10]

insulting in some levels, like borat, though funny.

the sad part is that i think many people gain their knowledge about african and middle eastern countries from these movies and some targeted news.

Saw a pre-screening and it was actually pretty funny. Short and to the point. Doesn't waste time with a bunch of story that the viewers obviously aren't there to see.
