Better than the first. More fun and better action - and the ending was not as chaotic as the first movie. Very entertaining if you watch it with the right group of people and preferably a few beers. Jet Li is missing a large part of the movie, which was disappointing. Van Damme works well as the bad guy and Dolph is worth every penny. Arnold and Bruce is a bigger part of the movie than the first, which is a good thing, along with Chuck who adds a lot of humor to the movie. Highly recommendably to people who like 80's action. However, it was distracting that so many scenes were out of focus as Csschneider also mentions. I'd probably give it around 4 / 6, considering the first movie as 3 / 6.celinesthreedots

Dolph and Van Damme were the best things about the film. Otherwise, this is just as awful as the first one. And 40% of the film is out of focus. WTF?Zeltaebar
I loved the first movie, but this one was a big let down. The action is fast and chaotic, but in a bad way. They shoot the action the way Paul Greengrass shot the second and third Bourne movies. In those movies it works, but in this I was dissapointed because I am a nostalgic guy and would have liked old fashioned action sequences 80s-style, you know, those were you could see what was going on. Something I did not notice in the original, but jumped out at me in this one was the use of CGI, which was sometimes pretty obvious and few things ruin a movie for me more than that. Then there is the big, gaping plot holes, but I will not go into detail there. I will say however that these movies are too much of a good thing, that is, they try to do too much. They cram all these action-stars of the past (and present) into it, so much in fact that individually they hardly get any screen time at all. I wanted more of Chuck Norris, more of Arnold, more of Bruce, definitly more of Van Damme and where did Jet Li go? There is no time to build any character here. The characters seems to be a glorious action version of the actors themselves, but that's not thrilling, that's just self-indulgent (and even though I like the occasional meta-comment, this movie way overdid the old movie references). The movie would have been better if it only had 4 or 5 of these old action stars, but worked more to flesh their characters out. I miss the 80s....asafkharisma

Dolph Lundgren was the best thing about it.It certainly was not great, by all means, but it is one of those once-in-a-liftetime occurrences (ALL of your still-living classic action heroes coming together into one film) that just makes you smile to see it happen. But like anything, if you weren't into that sort of thing in the first place, it really doesn't matter.

This one is really a new cult movie! I mean, there are moments where the cast play a lot of action and power in the screen you can barely keep track of it, and there are also a lot of great quotes! Really funny.I love it! Fuck you cinema connoisseurs!

In relation to the action sequences and the directing, It's an improvement over the first film, but like the first film it lacks a certain balance in the tone and is not as entertaining as it sould be, considering it's great cast of action-stars and more importantly, being an actionfilm.MathianSim
