Well made film with no allowance for viewer emotion. I felt railroaded into feeling a certain way the entire movie, they did their best to remove any possibility of opinion. So as much as I enjoyed the tour through despair, when it was all over I was just kind of angry.

Felt a bit awkward or forced with some of the ideas and dialogue, but I guess that's pretty much to be expected - things don't always translate well from book to screen, especially YA novels.

Still enjoyable though; lovers of the book will probably adore it. Just don't go in expecting a cinematic masterpiece.

Captured both the heartache and humour from the novel pretty well. The acting by the main cast was good, Shailene Woodley really gives it her all, making the character of Hazel Grace believable and lovable. Some good parts in the book were left out, as well as some imagery which could have been effective especially in this format. However, it doesn't ruin the film.
Fans of the book will enjoy the movie, general audiences might view this as your typical teen-romance-drama.

The same amusing charm from the book was definitely transferred to the film, and Shailene Woodley plays the role of Hazel perfectly. Ansel Elgort was quite inconsistent with playing Augustus, and didn't always capture Gus' charm or wit to his full potential, however the pair displayed great chemistry. Though the story overall is flawed and can be seen, in places, as pretentious, being somebody who has adored the book since its release, I found it enjoyable to watch. I suppose it's merely something to watch if you're looking to bide time as it's not completely magnificent but it is heartwarming.

I also agree with the comments saying the dialogue was a little unstructured.

Not sure if I liked it. There is nothing romantic about cancer, yet I thought performances by all the actors were great. Shailene will be one to watch.

The eulogy scene was the most heart breaking of the movie.
The romantic duo had an incredible chemistry.
Shailene Woodley is adorable.

A surprisingly clear-eyed view of death and romance, The Fault in Our Stars is a heart-aching film that feels like its source material (the novel of the same name) may very well be destined to become a modern American classic taught in high schools. Augustus Waters feels like he was pulled from the same mould as Holden Caulfield or Jay Gatsby.

Unfortunately, the actor that plays him (Ansel Elgort) felt a little off sometimes. Shailene Woodley is shockingly excellent in her portrayal of Hazel.

If you have read the book you will absolutely adore it. It well captures the essence, and balances well between the love story, the drama and the humor. The actors are good, much better than what I expected ; especially for Gus. Particularly loved the portrayal of Isaac. Great job! And bring your tissues!

This movie reminds me - what a fine actress Shailene Woodley is! Dialogues were witty and the acting just flows in so naturally.. For its genre and theme, it could never get better than this..!
