What genius decided to cast Wahlberg as an English literature professor, bizarre.
Apart from a strong supporting cast, notably Goodman and Lange there's very little good to say about this one. Wouldn't recommend. 9 years 3 months ago -

Legit soundtrack, sadly everything else is a bit meh. Wahlberg is fine but he's still the weakest link in what is a surprisingly stellar cast that deserved a better and braver script to work with. The film may be nicely constructed on a technical level and admittedly doesn't do too much overtly wrong, but it's all surface and the protagonist is so deliberately emotionless and detached that it's hard to connect with him on any level, leaving the climax of the film lingering on a catharsis that doesn't feel truly earned. 9 years 3 months ago -

A tedious movie with ludicrous nonsensical rambling monologues and conversations, that might have made sense with decent acting from the lead but alas... Wahlberg is about as comfortable with complex dialog as a gorilla would be playing pinball. It just doesn't work. 4 years 9 months ago
