Having just read the Paul Brickhill's book it was based on, I have new found love for this movie. It is surprisingly accurate, and on rewatch I found a lot of fascinating details I hadn't noticed before. Not only is The Great Escape a thrilling and insanely fun movie (with one of the best casts ever), it is also a tribute to the men in Stalag Luft III. 6 years 11 months ago
